Cordalock: Total Bike Security in One System

A thief doesn't need to steal your whole bike to ruin your day. 

Most locks protect just one part of your bike. Cordalock secures your frame, both wheels, and even your saddle — all at once. 

Three independent locks in one flexible device, with the same level of protection across the system. No need to carry multiple bulky locks. Finally, a lock designed for your entire bike.

At the heart of Cordalock 3-in-1 are two independent main loops connected through one central lock, plus a dedicated branch for the saddle. Together, they bring the whole bike under the same level of protection with one key.

Each main loop works independently, so compromising one does not automatically release the other. And because the system is flexible, it adapts around real bikes and anchor points, making whole-bike protection practical wherever you park.

Cordalock bends around your bike, but it is not built like an ordinary cable lock. It's designed to resist cutting, prying, and tampering, and tested to show how it performs under real attacks.

Its patented mechanical architecture uses an articulated steel structure designed to respond differently when cutting begins. Its three-layer construction combines a protective textile sleeve, overlapping hardened-steel rings, and a braided stainless-steel cable core to deliver strong mechanical protection without sacrificing flexibility.

To see how it performs in practice, we compared Cordalock with established lock formats under the same conditions, using a Makita 840 W angle grinder running at 11,000 rpm.

Practical bolt-cutter demonstration

Laboratory numbers tell one part of the story. We also wanted to see how Cordalock behaves against a tool people instantly recognize: a large manual bolt cutter.


Angle-grinder testing

As shown above, Cordalock was subjected to comparative testing using a Makita 840 W angle grinder operating at 11,000 rpm, alongside other established lock formats under the same test setup.

In a separate test using a compact 350 W battery-powered angle grinder, the articulated steel-ring structure interfered with the cutting process and caused the disc to jam during the attack.

Real-world parking is rarely perfect. Some days there's a bike rack. Other times it's a railing, a post, a tree or whatever fixed point is available.

Unlike a rigid lock, Cordalock adapts to the place where you actually park, making it easier to secure your bike in everyday situations.

With most bike locks, one successful cut can be enough to release everything they secure.

Cordalock's loops work independently. If one loop is cut, the other doesn't open with it. It stays locked around the parts it protects. 

To free the whole bike, an attacker has to overcome separate locked loops. That means more cutting, more time, more noise, and a greater chance of being noticed.

 

 

Protecting the frame, both wheels, and saddle usually means carrying several locks. That adds more weight and more bulk every ride.

Cordalock brings that protection into one flexible system that is easier to keep together and take with you. Slip it into your backpack, mount it to your bike with the included frame clip or wear it across your body like a shoulder strap. It stays easy to bring along wherever you ride.

From the outside, Cordalock looks like a flexible lock. Beneath the protective textile sleeve, it is built from multiple layers of mechanical protection.

Overlapping hardened-steel rings surround a braided stainless-steel cable core, combining flexibility with strong resistance against cutting, prying, and tampering.

The rings are not simply placed side by side. Their bullet-shaped profile allows each ring to fit into the next, creating a continuous protective structure while preserving flexibility.

The braided stainless-steel core runs through the entire structure, adding another barrier beneath the rings.

 

 

One system. Multiple ways to secure your bike.

Cordalock can be configured in different ways depending on your bike, the components you want to protect and the fixed point available. The animation below shows just one possible setup.

Once the loops are in place, turn the central mechanism to tension the system around the bike, then lock it with the key to hold that tension securely in place.

Traditional locks require both ends to meet at the lock. Cordalock doesn't. The entire system is tensioned and secured from one central mechanism, giving you far greater freedom to route it around your bike and the available anchor point.

The 3-in-1 Cordalock adds a dedicated branch for the saddle, bringing the frame, both wheels, and saddle together under one central lock and one key.


Choose your color and fit after the campaign

When you pledge, you only choose between the 2-in-1 and the 3-in-1. That's it. After the campaign, you'll choose your preferred colour and Cordalock length through the Kickstarter backer survey, before production begins.

Length
Cordalock will be available in two carefully designed lengths, developed to fit virtually every standard bicycle—from compact city bikes and road bikes to MTBs, gravel bikes and most modern e-bikes.

Cordalock's ring-and-cable structure was independently tested by AIDIMME, a Spanish technology institute specializing in industrial innovation, materials and mechanical testing.

Controlled Shear Test
Using a universal testing machine, AIDIMME applied controlled shear loads to different parts of the system until failure.

Depending on the configuration tested, the hardened ring structure resisted approximately 20 to 38 kN before failure. In several tests, even after the steel ring structure broke, the internal braided stainless-steel cable remained intact as an additional barrier.

Cordalock is built around a patented mechanical architecture specifically developed to bring whole-bike protection, flexibility and multiple independent locking points together in one integrated system.
